Within many Art GCSE and A Level courses students are closely directed as a group by their teacher and guided in a ‘step by step’ style through the creation of a portfolio. This often means they have little freedom or autonomy over their work. I feel strongly about doing this differently. I take time to get to know my students - their hobbies, interests, strengths and weaknesses - and then support them each in creating a portfolio that is completely original to their peers, reflects them as an individual and perhaps most importantly, becomes a project they are fully engaged with and enjoy creating.

As well as painting, drawing, sculpture, textiles and printmaking, I have directed students through creating projects with a focus on comic book design, animation, fashion design, architecture, conceptual installation, land art, textiles, graffiti…. and many more!

I hold an MSc in child and adolescent mental health and am passionate about combining my love of Art and teaching with my knowledge and understanding of mental health and neurodiversity in order to make my courses accessible to all.

FAQs

  • There is no minimum or maximum age! However, if you wish for a child under the age of 14 to start the GCSE or a child under the age of 16 to start the A Level please do get in touch to discuss this first.

  • It is important that the learners attend the online lessons live due to examination regulations and the need for me to confirm that the student's work is their own.

  • Payment plans can be set up in different ways to make the course affordable. You can choose to pay for the course as a whole, termly, or the total cost of the course can be split over 15/18 months (depending if GCSE or A Level). As the charged lessons only take place during term time, splitting the total cost over 15/18 months can help to spread the cost.

  • It is a misconception that one needs to be able to create drawings and paintings that look like photographs to be 'good at art'. The wonderful thing about Art is that it can be so many different things. Technical skills can be taught. What's much more important is motivation, creative thinking skills and a genuine interest in the subject.
